Application of long pulse illumination for testing solar modules

A longer illumination time is critical to test new PV module technologies, since the response time, or time to full power of some technologies is significantly longer than the regular flash testing method of 10 to 100 milliseconds.

The response time of a PV module is affected by:

• Capacitive effects at large module sizes and powers
  
• Chemical kinetics
  
• Module integrated electronics
